Default Does the year matter?

I was looking into trading my 2000 dx coupe for an older hatch. Somewhere between a 92'-95'. Is there a year that stands out more than another? I don't want an si cause they cost too much. Thanks in advance.

Nah, the year's dont matter. The only thing I think is that the 94 or 95 Si hatch came with ABS and the other years did not. That's about the only thing. Oh, and also the newer years 94+ came with passenger side air bag. The others only came with driver side.

Get a Si man!!! It isn't that expensive. I got both of mine for less than eight grand.

Thanks for the responses guys. I was actually looking to pay between $3000-6000, which is why i'm avoiding the si. Also, it weighs more with the sun roof.

Only the 92 came wired for VTEC in all models. You live in philly? I wouldn't pay more than 3000 for a 92-95 if you're in philly.

I'm in Hawaii and I paid $4000.00 for my 1992 Si, and $4900.00 for my 93 Si. You're up in the states, and I can guarantee you, you can find a Si for at least $4G.

4Gs? When I was looking for a car I found 2 Sis for sale. One was listed at 3500 so you know you could bring it down the other for like 3700. Just get one with high miles then have money for a swap :-D

the 92-93 hatches did not have the outer grills painted, but the 94-95 did. Interiors changed up a bit, but that won't matter if you plan on swappin in some buckets or whatever.

imho dont not buy a car b/c its a 92 but if you have the choice between a 92 or a 93 get the newer one... the first year of any new model line by any car company tend to have little bugs that get subsequently worked out in the nexrt year or two. just my .02... but dont turn down a good 92 for that reason alone

get as old of the same style possible IMO. It's cheaper to buy, cheaper to insure, and is 99%the same thing in most cases. But, see what you find and go from there. I think the 94-95's also came with passenger side airbags if my memory serves me right.

the all-92s-wired-for-vtec thing is kind of neat. ill admit i didnt know that. so theres a plug where the solenoid would be? and a wire in the harness not connected inside the ecu??

Additionally, if I am not mistaken, beyond 92's the only models wired for VTEC were VX and Si.

the 92's ae wired from the ECU to the firewall. Basically, you could drop in a Z6 into a 92 CX with the Z6 engine harness and ECU, and the rest of the CX (engine to firewall to ECU) will be perfect.
