Default Which Carbon Fiber hood?

Been looking into getting a CF hood and I know that Fiber Images and VIS both make quality hoods but is one preferred over the other. I did a search but did't come up with this answer. Thanks

Too bad your not in So CAl. I got a fiber images hood with a 1inch defect in the resin. Its perfect otherwise. Rolled edges, perfect weave, even has the rubber weather seal in the front.

Both hoods are totally different from each other. And you decision depends on what you want the hood for. If you want a nice weight reduction, the Fiber Images hood only weighs about 12 lbs because its made with only a single layer of carbon fiber and has its skeleton doesnt weigh that much either. These hoods last a darn good time as you can see from their website. On the other hand, VIS hoods (I believe) are made for show purposes only, Their fitment is 99% perfect with 99% perfect weaves, but the downside is its weight. I think i read somewhere that VIS hoods are triple layered and its final weight is just about that of the stock hood, somewhere around 25+ lbs. Why does VIS use 3 layers to make a hood when 1 layer is enough. Remember, carbon fiber is a really really strong material. I chose the FI hood for weight reduction purposes and its reliability.

i've never heard anything bad about fiber images......i actually used to sell their hoods because a guy i used to work for was a distributor or knew some one inside to get great deals. These hoods are sweet! If you watch their video that they have on their site, the stand on top of a latter and drop a 17" wheel w/ tire right in the center of the hood! No cracks, No scratches......i was in AHHH when i saw that!
