hey all. im new here. just got off of j-body.org
well i used to be a j-body owner. RIVALS. i had a 99 2.2l cavalier 5spd with cai, catback, header, skunk 2 coil overs, asp undrive racing pulley, and sum other little things
now i have to be honest. CAVALIERs SUCK!!! they are slow and dont have anything good to bolt on. yes even the z24's. trash. a cavalier is a car to modifie if ur cheep. now im not sayin they all suck but 85% do. now im moving on to bigger better things. my new project: 92 hb civic with the b18c1 engine swap. im going to need a little bit of help on this one. help such as. where to start, where to get a good lowmilage motor that dosent need to be rebuilt, were to get the tranny, what model hb should i gett that will make the intstall eaisier than normal, what problems might i run into, things i should have a heads up for that migh tbe a problem. theres tons more...ill just wait and see what u guys have to say about the lillte bit i already asked. and prolly one of the most important questions.....how much money am i lookin at by the time im done with this project. any help would be greatly appreciated. and im glad that i found this org cuz u guys seem like really cool peeps. and not to mention tha fact that u all drive hondas..
..THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST> thanx again

congrats on the switch
you can check out http://www.hmotorsonline.com for some of the most complete swaps on the market. you pay a few hundred more, but you get a MUCH better swap.
and what ever you do, DONT get a swap from Osaka motorsports. there have been alot of problems with them.

For the motor your looking at anywhere from 3000 to 4000 with installation. And the rest of the tab depends on how quick you want to go.

yeah ive seen 1 cavi i like. thats right i like one. dont hate me. it was black, w/ S15 front conv, turbo, i liked. now say theres like 10 million, so that means like 99.9999% of them suck. oh well, welcome to the world that is honda. its all good from here on out. youre first decision is to lay out what you want. im pretty sure the 92 CX hatch is the lightest, so thats the most popular starting point for a fast car. Any B-series swap is easy on these cars if you have a little mechanical inclination, which im sure you do. Companies such as Place Racing, and Hasport make direct bolt-in kits, and you can get a wiring plug-in, minus wiring the VTEC solenoid. but its really easy. OR you could drive the car for awhile while you buy the B18C1 and build it. there are also many other engines to consider. B16A, B16B, B18C5, there are about 15 common swaps for that car, so think it out good. the JDM B16A 1st gen is the cheapest of the DOHC VTEC swaps, so thats a good option if moneys tight. but youll figure it out. the people on here are the best of the best, so youre in good company. and about the money thing,..you will never be done with your car,..there is always something that needs to be modified or fixed,...so you will always spend money until you sell the car,..modifying cars is expensive,..cars are money pits,..but its what i love so thats why i spend so much,..good luck with your project and congrats on the switch
10k is a good budget to get you started out for car/motor/mods. Of course you can do it for less and you can do it for more, but that will get you something respectable-nice. My advice to you is start trying to find a good buy on a hatch right now cause even though there are lots out there, obviously it's become a popular purchase as of late. The other thing is to start reading/searching about swaps and the like A LOT. Being knowledgeable is a big plus and being good with turning wrenches is the another.
welcome to HT, and learn here and now.....the SEARCH button is your BEST FRIEND dude, i swear........i use it all the time and i hardly ever have to post questions, just senseless replies.....good luck with your hatch, you're gonna love it
