Default heater/defrost buttons/lights not working

I have 88 accord LXi and the buttons and lights on heat/defrost/vent/defrost&heat section are not working but the fan switches and fresh/recurculator buttons and lights are working. Split personality, huh. It stays at vent mode.

Any suggestions on what I can look into?

Thanks-

Jim

then if all the fuses are good, take out the controls, and test for current going to thoes bulbs. if it's what i'm thinking, the little green lights that light up when you push the button, those are leds.
if you are talking about the backlight, those are small 74 style bulbs and could have burnt out if you are getting current.

The LED's not working is a real common thing on 3rd gens as they are aging (and it's usually the same buttons). What happens is the soliders for the LED's develop cracks and no longer form a good connection. If you're good with a solidering iron you can take the printed circuit board out and re-solider them, and if done right they'll work like new. Otherwise, it could be something else inside. Is it the original buttons or a replacement? Because the inside wiring for 86-87 were different from 88-89, and were not interchangable.

Oops....I need to read a little better, lol. Yea if none of them are working on that one side and it won't change modes, I'd check the connector and make sure it didn't come partially unplugged or something (after checking all fuses of course, under dash and under hood) Often times they put multiple things on 1 fuse, so be sure and check them all real carefully even if they don't seem relevant.
