got Sparco Evo seat....what else do i need to mount it to car?
i just got a Sparco EVO seat, now what else do i need to mount it to my car? i want it to be slideable and also should i install a 4pt seatbelt with out a roll cage? thanks in advance
You need a rail that bolts on to the DC2 chassis, while accepting the EVO seat. Talk to AJ-racing.
Some slides that might work EVO seat are:
1. Mugen rail
2. JDM bride rails
Don't use 4-pt harness without a roll bar.

Seat Bracket
Rails
Sliders
Various bolts
If you don't have that stuff then you're still missing about $200. worth of hardware. How many seats do you have? If you just have a drivers seat and want a bracket I have a brand new Sparco one for sale. IM me if you are interested. You'd still have to source the sliders and rails though.
And it's a bad idea to do a harness 4 point or otherwise without at least a rollbar preferrably a cage. Heck it's not even a really great idea to do a shell without a rollbar but, that alone is a less dangerous than a harness and no bar.
Good luck,
A.
PS where did you get a seat from and not the rest of the hardware? Was it second hand? I'm sure a Sparco dealership would promote their mounting hardware or at least the Wedge stuff.

to clear up any confusion, here are some pictures (from sparco's site) and the appropriate terms:
Side Mounts
Seat Track set (sliders or rails)
Base Mount (Umm, i always referred to this as the "bracket")
or this pic, specific to our cars
basically, both the sparco base mounts (brackets) are pieces of f'n garbage. i make my own, for lower seat height and increased strength. george, i concur with you that the base mount is a piece of ****, and everyone should stear clear. damn, i should start selling my brackets for these things, but no one would want to pay the labor invested in a top notch seat bracket. all well.
EDIT: pic of the sparco crap bracket didn't work. see? even pictures of those things don't work....

Holy cow George, I never saw you get silly like this before.
The thing is that the Sparco bracket on the base is junk as Rodney has indicated. If I get rid of it then it will be for a song.
He (Rodney) fabricates his own bases from Wedge brackets and DEFINATELY uses the Sparco rails/Sliders whatnot for his EVO's in the past and on his new Corsa's currently.
I am actually having him make me my brackets and golly gee willikers I'm actually going over there today with my EVO2 (yes I'm fat shuddup) for measurements and fitment. I'll show you my setup at the Expo or if we take PICS sooner We'll post 'em.
You can use the Sparco bracket but it is NOT a perfect fit (ask Rodney for specifics, I believe the bracket actually raises the rear of the seat uncomfortably.) And for SURE it is NOT nearly as sturdy as the Wedge and/or the reinforced brackets that Rodney produces. And it is NOT a bolt in affair but, are any of these brackets really just a plug-N-play affair without any slight modification especially with the slider?
Rodney, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong,,, But, I have seen and sat in your Sparco EVO with their rails, bracket, slider as well as. Rodney's modified brackets... His bracket is the way to go, I'm sure he'll post PICS...
DavidNYC also has Rodneys bracket installed currently with the sparco rails and slider on his EVO, We'll show you our setup very soon, or maybe Rodney will see you sooner...
A. who can't wait to meet George and put a face to the name...

i have a sparco evo and i used the sparco side mounts and base mount - no slider. i had to weld a 1/8" thick piece of home deposit metal stock to the base. this allowed me mount the seat on the base mount in a comfortable position. as it is, to use the sparco base mount with NO modification, you will have to be 5'6" (or shorter) and enjoy driving shifted to the left of the steering wheel. sparco makes an incredible seat, but their seat hardware is terrible.
This is all very good information. What other companies sell better harware that will fit the Evo? Mugen and Bride were mentioned...

i was led to believe that the Evo seat, all you need are the side mounts ? i have an Evo2 but i havent bought the brackets yet. what exactly do you need to mount the seat ?
Newbie question!
Why would you want to sit so low? For a better center of gravity? I mean, i have been in racing buckets that are really lsits you really low. But i am pretty short (5.6"), it makes daily driving difficult since it's harder to see things like curbs etc.

Rodney's brackets
The car feels so different with the race bucket. The suspension actually feels stiffer. Being strapped in I can drive with my hands and wrists and forearms as opposed to my arms and shoulders. Don't have to brace myself with the steering wheel(believe it or not this makes a huge difference). I can go on and on with the benefits of a bucket. But, I only installed the Evo after putting in a roll bar !

I am DEFINITELY looking to buy a rollbar and an Evo quite soon... How much does Rodney sell brackets for?
And i didn't get a response to my previouse post, but who else makes hardware that will mount to our cars and the Evo (besides the obvious of Sparco)?
