i was gonna do that with my 95 lude, and i almost did. but then i came to my senses and realized that it would be a huge waste of money ($7K). it can be done though, but it would add a lot weight to the car. so i didn't do it.
but yeah, it would be awesome if honda made it... maybe the new prelude, if it ever comes out...
here is what i'd like it to be:
4 or 6 cyl turbo
6speed tranny
RWD
targa top
interior similar to that of the 4th gen

i doubt it will ever happen, but dreaming don't hurt nobody

 

$7k to cut a 4x2 section of metal off your roof? Did they want to line it with solid 24karat gold trim?

 

i would look into the minitruck scene. there are a lot of guys that do that to their trucks. it would be about the same thing. just need a sawsall, sandpaper, bondo and imagination. it would be sweet, but it would make the car flex alot more.

 

An AWD prelude would be badass I really wish honda would start making preludes again

you have to re-inforce the frame, just like any convertable, since the support would no longer exist up there... this is why for example a mustang convertable is even that much slower than a regular rust..errr mustang

 

I like how it looks i wouldnt pay to get it done and the ludes weight enough as it is

Honda still makes preludes, they just dont import them to the USA anymore,
they are accord based now

the prelude is dead. Honda is not making it anymore anywhere.

It looks like a good way to waste a perfectly good sports car to me, but hey, to each his own. The only modification i would ever do to the roof of a prelude is remove the sunroof and weld some sheetmetal in its place.

yeah, and your sig say "all motor monster", well, you better have over $20k in that motor to be a monster in the tank that the 5th gen is.

anyways, that targa top lude is pretty tight...... gets me thinking, hrmmm.......

If I had two ludes and tons of free money, I would definatly do this to one of them, but you all are right, you would have to make the body ridgity stronger and improve tons of other stuff. But you could make it work.
