Default Shifting

Today I was driving my R and all of the sudden the shifter became much easier to shift. Since I purchased the vehicle a few weeks ago, the shifter felt a little stiff, but now its extremely light. Does anyone know why this is? Should I go to acura to get them to check out the trans?

Also, when I shift into 2, it seems to take a bit more time to shift into that gear (it does not engage as quickly as it does for the other gears), could there be another problem with this too.

Thanks

if it shifts, doesn't grind and doesn't slip, i don't think theres any problem. Maybe master/slave cylinder or something along assembly caused stiffer shifts since you only had the car for few weeks, and it could been sitting for a while at the dealership. I aslo assume when you say light, you're not refferint to shifter being loose...

I bet the shifter "guide" mount is loose.

The "guide mount" is holds the extension rod to the chassis located just rear of the shifter.

I am not too sure what to really make of this cause I haven't really driven manual transmission for a long time...but I know it feels effortless when i shift through the gears. The car did sit at the dealership for about 2 months, it just seems wierd that in the middle of my drive its resistence was gone (not complaining though). When the gears are slipping does that mean the gear takes some time to engage into gear. Thanks

I'd take it back to Acura to have it checked out. TG sounds correct that something in the shift linkage may have worked loose.

My guess is that the previous owner had a short shifter in there and replaced it with the stock stuff before selling the car and didn't tighten the bolts back up properly.
