Default 97 Accord SE

Wanted to get an idea about the timing belt on this model. I am at about 97K miles and the guys at the dealership are telling me I should get it done soon. However, I have been finding it really hard to find time to get into the dealership. Is this something I need to WORRY about right now, or can I blow it off for a few weeks?

Why would you tell him this?
Yeah your belt can go longer but why risk it? Is it worth ahead/engine rebuild, not to mention a tow and being without a car for a day or two? Just get it done to be safe. Yeah I've gone over on the timing belt interval on my cars before but I didn't have the money to get it done. I was lucky it didn't break before I got it done. Just get it done and change the water pump too.

Yeah, I usually replace them between 80-90 grand just to be safe. Maybe run you 3-600 My sister threw the belt in her Prelude on the LI X-pressway and it was quite a bit more as you can imagine... Not worth the risk.

Honestly I was just hoping to be able to make it until about 100K because of the timing problems. I have been having a really hard time getting the damn car out to the station to get it taken care of. I wonder if they would come pick the damn thing up...

It's not a dire emergency or anything. I'm sure Honda takes into account people putting things off when giving recommended replacement intervals. It's not going to go 90k miles and then **** the bed. Your probably fine for a little longer but get it done soon. There is always a chance it may break. Too big of a risk to let it go too long.

Are you willing to bet a 3K engine rebuild on a belt? I would bite the bullet and replace it asap.
