Question about sound of my header?
Well my friend i knew owned a 95 gsr with dc sports 4-1, dc sport short ram, and greddy sp. I have a 98 gsr with dc sports 4-1, aem cai, and greddy evo. Well riding in his car when he hits vtec at the first stage it is alot louder than when my car hits vtec. I dont understand is this due to mine being obd-1 or what. I mean i like how it sounds but its not nearly as loud. just wondering if obd-2 is screwing me over and i should change??
"screwing you over" on what? sound?
its not about sound bud. but yea, obd2 screws us all over in a way, but only in power...regarding your sound...its in your head.
also, his short ram will be louder than your cold air intake. that could be what your hearing.

well i dont mean screwing but i liked the way his was louder than mine. but i dont believe that the short ram could be making that big of a difference. Like it makes that kinda cracking noise when vtec first engages and his is just louder then mine. I can hear it on mine but its not nearly as distinct i mean his **** just screams when it hit vtec. But i guess more mods that i plan on doing will take care of that.

i had the same setup as you did. (well almost) injen short ram, dc jdm 4 to 1, and greddy evo. when i got the cold air extension, the vtec transition was less noticeable. I think it was at its loudest when all I had was an injen short ram. vtec transition will be louder w/ a short ram..from the cars i've been in. the obd2 factor makes a very minimal difference. if you want to hear the transition loud and clear get some cams. (not itr/ctr)

no no not you at all you were very helpful thank you, just what ever his name is who says the **** about vtec YO i mean was what i said really that funny and stupid
i can handle jokes but just say your kidding, i just thought you were trying to be a real dick to me cause alot of people have been.
im thinking it may be the exhaust, i have the same exhaust your friend has/had (dif intake and header) and i cant honestly say around 4500 you hear a very distinguishably pop. Before i installed my exhaust it wasnt half as noticable.
i have a CAI -decent sound from it -then off came the extention pipe for winter...and VERY LOUD vtec got all of a sudden. my vtec solinoid make a very loud POP when disengaging(like pushing the clutch in while in vtec and rpms go down past 4500)is it normal? and after i put on the dc sports header -when i start it in the mornings -i can hear like a wheezing/ supercharge like sound, coming from my header, but only on a new day's start(it stays in the garage -like 70 degrees all the time)
