good topic

real, quality carbon fiber hoods are incredibly strong, most CF hoods have fiberglass frames built into them cause pure "spoon weave" CF is expensive

they build entire race car bodies out of cf

about 400-500 for a pretty good hood..
fiberimage have three video of..
1)some **** dropped some rims with tires on the hood repeatly
2)some **** doing jumping jack almost..for 30 second.
3)some **** drove a car over the center of the hood.
no struture damages, no cracks, no bents just some blemish on the finish.

I have seen a Viper with a carbon fiber front lip and hood loose both of them to cracking at 160 mph
don't take to much into those videos, just because the hood in the video will survive it doesn't mean that each one will be that strong

and no, this topic doesn't belong here

i would believe the forces on a cf hood at 160mph would be alot greater than someone jumping on it.

So...what kind of cf hood is it? I'm looking to get one for my EG and have heard conflicting reports on fitment, quality, weave quality, etc... but bad shipping problems? yikes..

that was kinda my point, CF hoods supplied by most of the people we know of go on 99% show cars, that is why you can find them for cheaper than a stock hood a lot of the time. When we were racing at Lowes Motor Speedway the stock hood on the car with very tight hood pins looked like it was gonna rip right off, we were joking about what a carbon fiber hood would have done. 145 in NASCAR turn 4 when a hood pops off wouldn't be fun

a lot of the carbon fiber we see on race cars are specialty built or purpose built and cost 5 times as much

the custom carbon fiber front splitter off that Viper was close to 5 grand
