Default h/o alternator, optima battery or cap?

Hey i finally got everything installed and its just a tiny bit too much for my stock eletric system. I have an mtx 4244 4 channel amp bridged running at 120x2 and a mtx 6500d running one 12 at 500 watts. When my car is running and i have my headlights on they dim slightly when the sub hits, is this enough to screw somthing up? This is my first system so i dont know a whole lot. I have a 95 civic ex and i found a h/o 130 amp alternator brand new for 179. I cant fit an optmina yellow top battery in the factory spot so if i was to go that route i would have to run it to the trunk and ive heard caps are kinda worthless. Also would running bigger wire from the battery to alternator help? thanks alot

My headlights have been dimming for over a year now and no problems yet...

Allthough If I had the extra cash I would do the H/O alt and battery but not the cap. I had 1.0 farad in my last car and it did nothing except waist $125.00.

I have a total of 900watts- 2 amps one is 500 and the other is 450 driving four upgraded stock locations and 2 12s.

Just make sure your wiring is not overheating and ck your terminals to make sure your getting a good contact.

Thats what ive been hearing is that caps are pretty much a waste of money, my buddy has a .5 farad and he said its worthless too. Do any of you know what amperage a stock alternator would be for 95 ex cause i was lookin at a 135 amp alternator for 179 bucks online that was brand new, so thats not bad at all. But if I was to do that and run new wire from battery to the alternator it should be more then enough right? My battery is kinda crappy though also, i could just get a cheap one though if i got the big alternator. Hmm decisions....

The problem is that based on Autosound 2000 info there has been this ruling that
1 Farad per 1000w was okay......yet nobody checked it and EVERYONE took it as gospel. I personally believe that impendance and temperture will change to the capacity of the "device" in question to much lower than 1 farad. Im leaning more toward 3-5 per 1000 watts of power...just have to find info to back this up.

Also upgrading wiring ( if you have 4 ga power runs the oem ground return also should be a 4 ga) can help greatly plus its offers a better return investment.

just my .02

Caps are more to give the power supplies in the amps steady voltage to keep from clipping, etc. THey aren't designed to "band-aid' your alternator problem. When used for their purpose, they are beneficial.

Do the Alternator first, then rewire and get a better batt.. Then get a Cap.. It's already been said but just needed to emphasize that..
