Default 2.5 or 3 inch exhaust???

I currently have a b16 with all the boltons and stock cx exhaust. I plan to go turbo (built 1.8 block w/ b16 head) in a year or 2 and shoot an 80 shot dp nitrous until then. My question is should i go ahead and run 3" exhaust with a 2.5 inch header collector and 2.5 inch muffler or would this setup rob me of power.

well i dont think its a real question of how much power you are going to lose involving hte back prssure..rather how far your car is dropped and will a 3" exhaust fit with room to spare...i personally dont beleive that an abundant amount of power will be lost...possibly 2-3..however the b16 is already a built motor with some pretty raw stock headers...so my recommendation woulld be if you have the room go 3" but it not a 2.5" will be comprable

For a turbo b16 I would go with a 3" exhaust. If your staying allmotor than 2.5" will be fine.

There are a lot of contributing factors as to what size you run. The main factor is what size of turbo you will be running and how big the exhaust side will be. A T3/T04 will be sufficient with 2.5" exhaust, you dont want to lose backpressure however, but if your gonna step up to the plate and get a full T04 you gotta have a 3" exhaust.

I want to run a fairly large turbo so i think i'll want a 3 inch exhaust when i go turbo. My main concern is weither it will decrease the performance of my current all motor setup evin if i have a 2.5 inch muffler and 2.5 inch collector.

Yes it will affect your performance on an all motor setup. Do not get 3" exhaust on your allmotor setup unless your prepared to lose backpressure.

3 is for turbo only!!!! dont use 3 for NA, youll get turbo lag without the turbo.

that set-up is too big for N/A. you will loose to much backpressure and definitly hurt your performance. its not really gonna be a huge loss, so as long as u know that u r going turbo i would get that set-up. with turbo, the bigger the exhaust the better, so get whatever u can squeeze under there.

wouldn't the 2.5 inch muffler provide the backpressure or does it not work like that.
