Default how dangerous is this?

i recently bought a 93 hatchback dx. the previous owner was a master of jerry rigging stuff as i am slowly finding out. i cant complain though because i payed next to nothing for thet car, so i can only deal with it as i find it.

my question is about the bracket that holds the fuel pump in the fuel tank. you know how the fuel pump goes on it and then there is a clip that plugs from the bracket to the fuel pump, which is for the power. now the wonderful previous owner broke that clip and just put the end conectors of the wires on the pump. they are secure on there and are not close to each other as far as touching.

i was wondering if it is really not a good idea to drive it like that being since the clip is broken it makes it easier for the to ends of each wired to touch causing a saprk in the tank.
now the chance of that happening is...well.. i dont now, i dont see them move around much and really have not driven the car since i found this out.
i was thinking about wrapping tape around the metal parts of the connectors so it would insulate the metal ends a bit, but the tape would fall off in a sec being that it is in gasoline.

any ideas or suggestion are appreciated, as well as anyone who has that part and would like to sell it to me

It sounds like you have already made your decision. Get the clip and you will always have the peace of mind you are so graciously seeking from your HT brothers and sisters.

I bought an 88 CRX for $500 bucks and it has a cut shifter with a pep boys cheapo shifter, the wiring harness for the stereo was cut off to wire it to the radio instead of buying the harness, and it has some damage to the front, for which I replaced the fender and hood... Also its for sale because I dont want to spend the $ to do anything to it and am just gonna buy a hatch... I have it posted somewhere in the classifieds, and i need to get pics up, so i will link in pro when i do... but the point is I know all bout jerry rigging My friend is the King...

i can defenitly see what your saying, i mean i know what that can result in. i called the local honda parts specialist and they told me 15 bux for the bracket. i think i will just go ahead and get that to be on the safe side, the last thing i want is any car i'm in to blow up.

as far as the radio harness, yea this jerkoff decided to cut the wires rather than wiring in a harness. the messed up part is i think he installed a radio a few times cause those wires are short as hell.

i was thinking about gettting a male end of a wiring harness wiring it in and then doing it correctly with a female wiring harness thats sounds like a big *** mission soi might just wire in the radio as is.

this is my daily beater to get from and to where i need to go, so i want to spend a little bit of money as possible.

so ea, i decided not to be a cheap *** about the fuel pump bracket and buy that over anything else.

and to think i have been driving the car like that for the past 3 weeks
