Default Going back to dino oil at 102k?

Is it safe to switch to Castrol GTX? I've got a 102k gsr motor thats seen nothing but Mobil1 Syn. It's also a turbod motor and i dont' have any abnormal oil loss. What's your opinion?

Are you doing this to save money? I don't see why not.

For that reason and after reading the great oil thread, i decided no reason to use synthetic. I'm changing it often anyways and i seldon push my car hard so why not.

I switched back to conventional oil on my last oilchange... I had some maintenance work done at 96k (filled back up with Mobil 1 Syn) and by 96.5k I was down a quart, and by 97k yet another quart, so I decided to just flush it and go back to conventional. So far (500mi later) it seems like my oil consumption has dropped significantly.

It's expensive! Just change over to GTX. I did it at 120K and no problems here.

Well i guess i'll be alright. Should i flush it with anything first? Like some dino/syn blend oil first?

I never did. You might if you are worried about. I think they sell oil flush stuff that you put in and drive around for 100 miles or so and then drain, and fill with your dino oil.

Well i switched back from synthetic oil and so far no problems. I let the oil drip out for a long time. In the end about 3.7 liters had dripped out. So far so good.
