Default Switch obd2 for obd1?

I have a 97 GSR with h/i/e and vafc. Gonna get Skunk2 IM and Type r cams hopefully soon. Should I spend the money to get a odb1 conversion kit or will the odb2 work fine? Thanks ahead of time

OBD1 is always better for programming, but w/those 2 upgrades I don't "THINK" the ecu will throw any codes. Someone on this forum has to have tried it though. Good Luck.

you'll want to convert back to obd1 for tuning.
