Default flushing out the old oil?

hey guys, im changing my oil later today and i wanted to know if it is necessary to flush the engine and if so what is a good flush to use. when i bought my car a couple of months ago the previous owner had a bulk penzoil oil in it and i am think i am going to switch to a synthetic. either castrol or mobil 1. but the thread is really about the necessity of the engine flush, espically since i am changing from a bulk oil to a synthetic. thanks guys

Amsoil makes an engine flush fluid that I hear works well. Perhaps do an oil change, drive for a bit then do another? I am not sure if it is really something to be concered with though...

Look at the old oil. If it looks ok you should be fine... If you see metal shavings .. thats a different post

I was wondering this same thing, as I'm debating switching to synthetic... Is flushing the old non-synthetic oil out needed? Or will it mix fine?

I don't think you need to flush regular oil in order to put synthetic in. Don't switch back and forth obviously. I would change the oil right after it has been driven (so the oil is hot) and more of it will drain easier.

i'd stay away from that stuff - oil is the only thing i'd place in there..

the best oil flush is at the dealer... not sure if your local Acura dealer has the machine I am talking about, however, its a blistein machine, this unit is essentially a vaccum, once connected is sucks your engine clean...

I do this after every winter storage.. my engine oil stays sooo clean after this.... anyhow its 59.99 canadian...

have this service performed at the dealer - and remember that this type of thing is a preventative measure, and cant cure any existing problems with the motor. It really cant hurt, but i wouldnt do it before every oil change.

My Dad just used it in his B18C'd '93 LS and was spitting some serious black **** out of the tailpipe on start up. It's now gone. He noticed no improvement in fuel mileage, though. Maybe time will tell. Search the forums at http://www.bobistheoilguy.com and you will find MANY satisfied customers. I have not used it though.

Is it a good Idea to do this service now and then? I read the sales pitch from http://www.auto-rx.com/index.html and it sounds like flushing could be a good idea. Is it?

Search here for Auto-Rx and Shaeffer Neutra 131...
http://theoildrop.server101.com/cgi/...DaysPrune=1000

I have some Neutra 131 in the fuel tank of my Si right now. I've been having some slow starts, but then again 15-25 degree nights make it slow also. Anyway, Neutra can also be used in your crankcase for cleaning benefits also. More cost effective than Auto-Rx also. See here... http://www.schaefferoil.com/data/131.html
