help please car will not run.
ok, my car turns over but will not run.
i just changed my ault. and changed my timming. its a little tiny bit advanced. i took off the belt from the cam gear. i did not remove the cam gear or crank pully. and then turned the cam gear till it was a little tiny bit advanced. put the bet back on.
it has compression in all cylinders, i replaced all the spark plugs. its getting spark to all of them. has fuel pressure, try to start it with engine starter fluid. and no luck.
it will turn over all i want till my batt. dies. but it will not start and run. does anyone have any ideas of what it could be?
please help if anyone can, any ideas will be of help.
thank you...!!!

so, you advanced your timing by jumping a full tooth on a stock timing gear? one tooth is accually a huge difference in timing! I'd put it back where it was. also, when you change your cam timing, it changes your ignition timing (the distributor runs off of the cam) so, you need to re-set the ignition timing.
thank you guys i will do both of thoes. i am pretty sure my grounds are good but i had the problem once. thanx!!! and as for timming thats kinda want i am guessing it might be. i will look in to that more in the morring, thank you again!!!
any more ideas? injectors maybe? or air, could it be air? not best bet is timming. i didnt bend a valve is it has ok compression and still turns over fine with no weird sounds?

Once you do the timing and if it still doesn't work try the
MAIN RELAY=COMMON PROBLEM
Go to your local Honda dealer and have them put one in. It will cost $48.00 or so for the part installed. Hope this helps!

well i put my timming back to normal. and it still does not run, turns over but does not run. timming as far as i knwo is good. How do you Reset the ignition timming? it seems to be at cylinder #1. or is that #4 on a d16 from a 88-91 crx? its the closest to the distribitor. the shortest plug wire. thats #1 right?
well if its the main relay how do i check if its that or not? can i stick a test light to it or something? where is the main relay?
thank you guys so much, i have been with out a car for liek 5 days not and i am really getting upset. i just want the damn thing to run.
thanx!!!

The main relay controls the fuel pump. You should hear it make a click or spring sound when you turn the ignition to on. It is located somewhere above the hood release and held in by a 10mm bolt i believe. You should also be able to hear the fuel pump prime if everything is working... it makes a humming sound.
You can always check by taking the fuel line off and see if fuel comes out.

yeah but my fuel pump works, i mean i have pressure at teh filter so must work.
i think maybe timming again.
i have a STR cam gear, and there are 3 small lines on it. 2 are to line up with the head and one is to line up with the timming mark on the motor. then there is a adjustment marks a bunch of little lines grouped together. witha ZERO in the middle. i have useing the adjustment makes as my timming marks. so i think i amdoing it up side down. that is no correct right? i need to flip the cam gear up side down and line the 2 marks up with the head and the other with timming mark. and the move the block to its right place and then put it back together and start it.
am i thinking about all this right?

first, turn your crank so the TDC mark lines up with the timing pointer:
then, turn the cam gear so the timing adjustments are facing up.....
and the alignment line lines up with the marker on the timing cover:
then, slip your belt on.
as far as ignition timing goes.... get a helms manual... accually, any manual will tell you how to do that.

dude your the F-ING man!!! on and nice cam gear i have the same one. and how the hell did you get your motor that clean, i thought mine was. your motor is spotless. well yes!!! that helped a lot. means my timming is very off. thank you so much again!!! that was very very help full.

Correct me if im wrong guys but the #1 cylinder and plug is the one at the front of the motor. Which would be the one closest to the cam gear, farthest from the distibutor
