Default My Spoon TB install.

Sup guys, im back again.

Let's begin..

Throttle cable goes through the firewall here:

Stock GSR vs Spoon TB

The GSR fits INSIDE the Spoon TB

Oh yes..

All done

Takin out the trash

Well initial response when I cranked the car was WTF?! the needle went straight to redline. shut it off and turned out the cable was on wrong and was pulling the rotor
After we got everything straight, backing out the driveway was nice. Throttle response is ******* awesome. Revs up real nice and quick. From a stop accelerating is nice and smooth, especially while in gear. For example: on the freeway while in 5th, I don't have to put much effort into passing someone. No need to downshift etc etc.

Any comments/questions are welcome.

i'm getting a skunk2 manifold next week, and probably picking up a bbk 70mm t/b as well. Whats the size of the spoon t/b? Also, how was the power difference as soon as you put on the manifold? and also the t/b?

yes, im running a skunk2 manifold. The Spoon throttle body is 70mm tapered to stock ITR which is 64mm i believe.

skunk2 manifold helped out top end a whole lot, but you'll have to raise your VTEC x-over and get bigger cams. with the TB i didn't really feel much gain HP or TQ wise, but throttle response was what i was looking for and expecting and its what i got.

no, i didn't portmatch the TB or the skunk2. i simply just bolted it up.

your mod list is almost like mine..except you got more highend stuff. My mod list is:
CTR Intake cam (untuned as well)
skunk2 cam gears
aem cai
dc 4-2-1 ss header
greddy sp cat back
test pipe
Chipped p28 ecu...chipped w/ my custom all motor program
(next week) Skunk2 manifold and BBK t/b

anyways, did you buy a new throttle cable or just basically switch it all over?

Looks good Dustin Going crazy on mods lately
I was thinking about picking up a Spoon TB used, and your display of the spoon/gsr tb humping action has shown me the light. I may have to look for that for a future investment. You know anyone with an extra stock Type R intake arm?

i hated my 70mm. throttle response got annoying after a while (no one could drive my car correctly) and it seemed overkill for a non-FI setup. and it made my intake HISS really loud 24/7 (louder than a normal AEM).

same exact reasons i would be installing a very stiff suspension, racing cluctch with heavy duty press plate and blah blah blah, so that everyone else but me would hate driving it and quit freakin asking me to drive my damn car

This man has got a really good point.

Thanks for the review. Do you think that a straight through 70mm would help if any? along with port matching?

I have heard from some technical wizards that big throttle bodies actually hurt flow. My own experience with a big throttle body was improved throttle response. I am going to dyno soon to get an accurate comparison of my stock ITR throttle body vs my Erick's racing 70mm throttle body. I will post results.

Awesome- that would be something good to see. I believe I was reading a post in which I think it was (AJ Racing maybe?) talking about tb's that they are working on that are big bore. People were saying that gains if any are minimal- AJ agreed for the top end but said on the dyno big bore made the most increase through mid range with very little top end increase. I'll see if I can find the post.
