Default Check Engine light came on? Very serious?

i just bought my car and the check engine light came on. It never came on before. Its runnin like a brand new ferrari. Could it just be little stuff like Plugs, oil, and fluids? I need to start putting synthetic oil in it cause the other owner probaly didnt.
thanks

most likely it's just an O2 sensor. You can pull the code by popping off the service plug cover (located on the passenger side of your radio, the front most peice of carpeting actually pops off). there's a blue rubber "holder" in there and a blue plug in it (2 wires) just jumper those and turn the car to ignition and watch what code flashs. every long blink is x10, and every short one is one (so 2 long and 5 short is 25)

If you can afford it go with synthetic. It's the best for your car. It ends up being around $30 every oil change.

Typically this would trip the low oil pressure light and not the check engine light.
