My latest idea
B&W CCM80
I'm looking for some high quality speakers for my car (2000 SI). It will be just a front stage setup with the speakers mounted in kicks. I was originally looking at the Alpine type X but i stumbled accross these. They're designed for inwall installations for the home but i can put them in my kicks.
The only problem i could see with these would be that they are 8ohms which would make it somewhat hard to power.
What do you guys think? worth it?
PS. They're 450 a piece

B&W's are some of the finer speakers made out there.......
here's some things for you to consider
#1: When Earl Zausmer was using B&W's in his award winning BMW he kept having to change some of them due to cold weather seasons.
#2: the fact that they are 8ohms doesnt exactly mean that they will be more difficult, you have to understand these speakers have a high efficiency which means they will sound great with a bit less power than expected. Not to mention a custom passive xover designed for them will allow you to make them shine in your si.
#3: there are so many other ways you can go because $900 on a pair of speakers is outrageous. I myself am using Cabasse home drivers in my car, the company told me some people are using them in car audio competitions in Europe so I knew they'd work. http://www.cabasse.com, but check out orcadesign.com and madisound.com and look at some of the other manufacturers they carry, you'd be amazed what sounds good.
When you could spend $750 on a set of Dynaudio 3 piece components, $900 seems like a ripoff

Sorry...i forgot to mention that i'm canadian so 900 CDN is like 600 US. I've seen and read about Earl Zausmer's BMW and thats actually what got me into high end speakers. I have some B&W speakers in my room actually.

Yeah I love my Boston Pro 6.5!!! I also purchased the Ambient Tweeter's and have my 6.5's in kickpannels. Great sound! I previously had MB quart but they were shitty!
