Ha ha, oh, you meant that tripod. Yea, it holds the camera You don't really need them for daylight pictures, but for night time ones, without a tripod, the shutter will stay open trying to capture the picture with low light and your hands will move around a bit and the pictures will come out blurry. Thats why most night pictures come out blurry without one. I need one too. you can get a pretty good one at walmart for 18.00 for the smallest one and up to 48.00 for the largest strongest one, but its mostly made for video cameras, so the small one should do.

Free web page hosting and stuff, just like geocities or angelfire if you know what they are. If your talking about the tripod logo pictures, its just from somebody trying to post a picture from their tripod domain that they ftp'd or uploaded to their account but tripod dosn't all images to be displayed outside a tripod webpage, so you see the logo instead. Unless of course your talking about some part on a car called a tripod! </TD></TR></TABLE>

Are you sure, I always read about people buying a tripod for their digicam, I think you are talking about something different.

its a three legged stand for a camera.
go to a camera shop and ask them.
they go from $15.00 to over 1000 depending on which type/material/brand you get.

it holds the camera steady.
something you need if you are running a long exposure.
have you ever gotten a shaky picture, or a blurry one?

I have a question about tripods in general. I had this one that I bought from Wal-Mart for $20. I liked the tripod for the money, BUT I did not like the clip that attaches to the camera from the tripod.

Here is the clip I am talking about:

What is the purpose of the little silver ball next to the screw? That damn thing put an indention on the lower front of the case of my previous camera due to removing / installing the damn thing when I changed batteries

Is this the general way a digital camera mounts to a tripod?

If anyone wants to recommend a tripod that is &gt;$35 I am interested. The tripod I had was sturdy. Sure it would fall over in high speed winds, but it was light, fully adjustable, and didn't cost much.

I may buy another tripod from Wal-Mart (maybe the next one up) and just glue that ball down. Unless it has a purpose?

PS &lt;&gt; I just realized this is posted in the Appearance forum
I'll look for a thread in GDD to post this

Do the 2 tripods you show use the same kind of mount for the camera to tripod?

Thanks

as your screwing the adaptor into the camera, that little metal ball will come to rest in a spot so that the camera is centered on the adaptor. That way, when you attach the camera/adaptor to tripod, it's always "squared up"..

on most DV and digital cameras there is a screw in spot on the bottom for that little adaptor. that allows you to quickly attach/unattach the camera from the base without having to directly screw it to the tripod. they are very nice. I can use the same tripod with my JVC DV camera and Kodak Digi Camera, i just need an extra adaptor

It still helps cause you can take all your pics at a consistent level and such. I like it cause I use it with the timer and step back to ensure I am not in the pic and no chance of my hand moving it right when it takes the pic.

Or you can run around and get in the picture

I bought one last night again from Wal-Mart. The same $20 tripod. It's pretty damn nice. Weighs like 2 pounds, extends up to 58 inches, can turn vertically for pictures, and comes with a 2nd camera mounting plate
