Default D16Z6

i was thinking of putting a D16Z6 in my 92 hatch until i get a gsr motor i was wondering how much hp would the D16Z6 have with just the basic headers, intake, and exhaust and what would it run in the 1/4?

stock d16z6 usually put out about 105-112whp...with bolt ons you'll be in 115-125whp range...

in DX or CX or VX this is usually good for 15s or possibly even with gutted car for high 14's at sea level.

My little D16Z6 made 109.1HP and 95.7 ft/lbs with a cam gear(advanced), pullies, and an intake. Sence I've added an exhaust(3in), but haven't gone back for new #'s. I've ran a 9.8@71 1/8th mile which is probably a low 15. So with a good combo of basic mods, decent tires, and good driving they can produce mid-high 14's.

Depending on the hatch (couple hundred lbs difference from CX to DX), anywhere from lower 15's to high 15's should be expected.

at most about 80lbs, which will translate into about .1 in 1/4 or so.

just to remind you:
CX & VX Hatchback =2094 lbs
DX Hatchback =2178lbs
Si Hatchback =2326lbs

Why do you have a three inch exhaust?

3" is turbo prep. The stock muffler fell off and I had to get it replaced for testing. I didn't want to have to fix it to stock or spend the money to get 2.25 when I'd be boosting down the road. 3" sucks w/o a silencer, but I have one and the exit hole in it is only 2" It helps with low end. Some people are too quick to bolt on some stuff that may work but they end up paying for it 2x when it needs to be replaced. Think of the big picture, make a plan, and stick to it. Mind your own biznaz while you're at it .

I ran a 15.5 in a 94 Si a good distance above sea level. The Z6 is an excellent engine. Build that and be better off in the long run. LOng blocks run 250 bucks and there are lots of options with them. You need light weight to get the times down though.

Dude i had a d15 with a d16 head and i ran the same with I/H/E and a Cam Gear!!!

I was also using the d16z6 throttle too and MSD RPM activator switch for VTECH to kick in instead of the hard to find ECU

About a week back somebody posted dynos of a d15 and d16 and the curves were almost exactly alike. The d16 had maybe 3 or 4 more #'s of torque.
