Does everyone just thread in the fitting or weld it in ?
also do es it matter if its in the downpipe of the manifold?
it looks like the probe might be too big to go into the manifold,and i dont knwo if i wanna mes siwth my nice manifold ?

My fitting is screwed into my MaxRev manifold.........no leaks at all. Your manifold location is going to give you the most accurate EGT reading.

 

i have maxrev too , where on the manifold did you plce it? i have the autometer if it matters fior the probe size ? you have any pics?

 

most people place in on the 3rd runner. About 1inch to inch and hald away from the flange. Dont worry the prob wont break or burn...aslong as its tapped in there right. BTW im also runnung the maxrev mani.

Let me know if this helps. I remember now that the base has pipe threading and it got real tight once I started screwing it in to the manifold. It does not leak at all.

Thanks! Yeah, it is very close, but it doesn't hit. I would place you wastegate on the manifold, then orient the EGT base around until it's in a good spot, then mark it with a Sharpie and drill it.

 

He is my maxrev manifold. Tapping it took a while but it doesn't leak and fits perfectly fine.

what if i put it in like runner #3 facing towards the head?
im just scared to drill this manifold, i dont wanna **** it up
or is where you guys got it the best bet?

 

1.Make it level dont angle it.
2. make sure u want to start out with small drills and work your way up slowly(you dont want to drill a hole thats to big)
Center punch the manifold to give u a guide, so the bit wont slide around.
If your really scared then maybe take to a shop.

Edit: remember you have to tap the manifold so you have threads..not just drilling it.

where can I get a 1/8 NPT tap? Is it just a 1/8 tap and 27 threads per inch or is it a special thread pattern and angle like BSPT? I have a greddy EGT and I need to tap it in, I just need to know where I can get the tap.

would dremel be enough?
or do i need special tools?
