Broke down and got a used 97 Sh
Im new to this site cause Hondaprelude.com is no more. And this seemed like a dope site. I had a 92 Prelude Si with a black widow kit,Rims,i,h,e etc, etc. I totalled it and looked long and hard to decide on anotehr car. I was considering buying a new WRX or Celica GTS but my credit wasnt good enough and i needed a down payment i couldnt afford. So i started lookin at Eclipse turboes but i didnt like the way they felt. Very unsafe. I finally found an older Sh with kind of high miles but it ran good and was VERY CLEAN. I was stoked and it was cheap for the area i live in. So i got it and im happy. The prelude isnt as fast as a WRX but it had WAY better looks. The lude will definetly get you more chicks, lol. And you can always modify it. Im planning on gettin a bottle of Nitrous or a sup[ercharger when i can afford one. But first things first, i want to lower it. What should i start with springs or shocks. Does lowering SH's mess with the suspension? ON this car i dont really want a crazy bodykit. Maybe a Mugen kit in time but i want to lower it first. What would be the best way to start out? My last prelude didnt need to be lowered cause it had a widow kit and they are low for body kits. After that ill get I,h,e etc. I know ground controls are one of the best and thats what im leaning to. But should i get shocks at the same time or are springs all right to start with.
Thanks

truthfully, if you are worried about the suspension first, then make sure you do it the way you want to do it, and that it's done right. are you planning on doing mediocre mods now and better ones later, or do you want to get your suspension to perform how you want it to for the life of the car?
Welcome to H-t.com and you made a good choice. Preludes surely look better than a 4-door wrx.
Anyways suspension wise make sure you get quality parts and dont even think of putting crappy parts in the lude. Maybe you can go with konis and ground control. I really love that combo!!

Someone told me to be careful cause the Sh has the special handling and its harder then base preludes. I plan on goin to a good tire shop to get it done. It might be a little more but it will get done right. And about the eclipse, has anyone drove one. I drove a convertible GST and i was scared it felt very unsafe and i couldnt see **** through that convertible window. I was like hell naw.

that's one of my biggest gripes with domestics and cars that copy off of them, you can't see out of the damn windshield. The way you sit, where the dash is placed, and how the roof curves combine for what seems to me to be an extremely small viewing area... bah!
i dont think it is harder to drive, it just takes time getting used to. like if you've drivin a base prelude all your life then moved to a SH, you would be very suprised of the differences. and i dont think you can supercharge SH's because of the mechanical device known as ATTS. either you cant do it, or you have to relocate the oil filter or something like that.
WAIT. DONT DO ANYTHING YET. Sorry to yell at you man, but its true, leave the car alone for at least six whole months, and in that time take it to some open track days, auto x's, driving schools, whatever. Get a set of stickier tires (read:falken azenis) and learn how to drive your car, notice points where it needs improvment, establish a baseline, and go from there. Otherwise, you'll never really know, what you're doing, or why. I see you're in California, I am too, if you want to attend some track days, email me, and I'll help you out, but don't throw away good money before you have reason to.

I think the SH has a good suspension set up stockwise. I don't think you need to do anything else with the suspension if you still want to have that nice ride of the Prelude. Add a pair of strut bars and you're good to race but if you must change your suspension, get the Koni adjustable shocks and Neuspeed race springs. I have that set up in my car, I love the way the car handles even more now. Definitely gotta take it to the track to appreciate the ATTS. As with engine mods, I think the 200hp engine is good enough in my opinion, maybe just add the AEM CAI, Mugen header & exhaust, that's all you need. As with the supercharger, I'm not sure about relocating the oil filter but I know that if you push more than 280 lbs-ft of torque, your ATTS won't work properly which isn't worth it. I personally think that the ATTS is one of the best invention from Honda.
get sway bars, and i think neuspeed race springs may be alittle too low. you will need a camber kit with it, if you dont get one, you tire tread will be gone very quick. stiffening your chassis might be good with strut bar and tie bars. but this all comes after you know the car. LEARN TO DRIVE YOUR CAR AS WELL AS POSSIBLE.
