I'm posting this for my brother...
He has a 92 JDM H22a in his 95 accord EX. He's running a chipped P13 ECU, w/ I/H/E. The problem is: VTEC works sometimes, but not others. So what could the problem be? The oil level is perfect, and there are no leaks. VTEC kicked in fine during the first month of the swap, but now, it only works half the time.
We are thinking it may be the ECU, because it was purchased of EBay. What do you guys think? Bad sensor? Or solenoid?
Please help us out if you have any insight.

i'd check all the wiring first. there may be a lose wire somewhere... if all wiring is ok, then i'd check sensors and go from there.
does the engine light come on at all?

 

Yea, the CEL has been on since the swap. We've gone over the wiring time and again and have yet to find anything out of the ordinary. My brother(the one w/ the h22) said that sometimes if he unplugs the ECU and plugs it back in it will work. So maybe we need to retrace all wiring and connections.

How did he run the wires into the ECU? Oh yeah, what code number is he throwing. . .that would help a lot. Also, are you sure the car is at a proper temp before going into VTEC range?

 

So nick...I see you as well have a JDM swap into your accord...what ECU are you using...any harness changes as well?
