Default RSX type-S vs S2000 engine

Are the internals interchangeable. I don't know much about this two engines, but the valve cover looks very similar. Are the engines the same?

I don't mean to come across as insulting - but thats a dumb comment. Ever seen the h22a, b18 and b16 covers? I'm sure you have... They are not totally interchangeable.

Without going into too much details, the rsx has a different bore and stroke, 86x86 I believe. SO that implies (I believe, don't quote me) that the rods and pistons are different.... different in shape I mean.

bah..

hehe, and you don't know, the HEads of B16, B18 are interchangeable? Is this possible on the RSX/S2k engine?

I am glad that u pointed out that B series Head. But S2000 is a F series motor and rsx is K series.

Yes I did know this, which is why I had the part 'not totally'.

Re-read the post.

I have heard of people putting an S2000 head on a RSX. From what I have heard though the only thing you gain is the ability to rev higher. I don't even know if the rumors are true but from what I have heard it's a waste of money.

If you could switch them, you'd have to do something about the computer as well seeing as the S2000 is VTEC vs. the RSX's i-VTEC.

But the RSX ECU couldn't be reprogrammed, the code still hasn't been cracked.

And the K20C's bottom end would have to be modified for higher RPM operation. The list goes on. The VTEC solonoid is mechanically different for these two cars. Electrically the are different as well. So are the castings for the cooling jackets. Where the hell are you going to get a head gasket?

Yeah right somebody has done this. It would be cheaper to swap engines and have a custom bell housing fabricated than it would be to swap heads.
