A friend of mine was telling me that two useful and free modifications that can be done to any civic (or integra for that matter) are the tensing of the throttle cable and the advancing of the timing by a few degrees.

I'd like to know if any of you guys have done these, what type of results have you seen, and if there are any guidelines to follow (esp. for the timing).

I'm taking my car into the shop tomorrow to play around with it, and it would be great to get some background on these topics as I venture into the world of tuning and playing with my honda.
