Assemble my spare B18c1 over the holidays and installed it new years day. started it up today, everything look good. vacum at 21 in/hg, but oil pressure was a liitle high at idle (around 30 psi). 20 mins later (about 3 fan cycles), the temp gauge went up to 3/4 at idle. it goes down to normal when the fan comes on. now bringing the revs to 2500 rpm, the oil pressure hits 100 psi!WTF! now i am faced with these two problems. can any body shed some light here as to what could be the problem?

 

Are you running thinner oil? Umm, what did you do with your oil squirters. Hows your oil pump? Is it new or the original? I'd replace it if it's the original.

 

i am using castrol 20w/50 gtx oil for break-in. as for the oil squirters, i have them capped off and the oil pump is the original one, maybe with 25,000 mi. on it.

 

how did you cap off your squirters?

 

I would def fix the cooling system first. How did you bleed the system?

 

You didnt put any shims in the pump did you?

 

the oil squirters came of another b18c1 block that was put together by someone else two yrs ago. not too sure how they did it. also not sure if the engine builder shimmed the oil pump. guess i have to pull apart the whole motor and use back the non capped oil squirters and check the oil pump.
