Default Crank Pulley is no more.

My question is this: Can I put lock-tite on the crank pulley bolt to stop this thing coming loose again? Is there anything wrong with doing so? Any other suggestions?

:Here's the full story of it flying off:
The threads on the crank (where the pulley bolt goes in) are stripped right at the end... they have been ever since I bought the motor. It ran fine for about 6 months, then the bolt started to come loose... it ate all my belts and the pulley rattled itself around untill it broke pieces off. I got another one, put it on as tight as I possibly could (with an impact wrench), and all was good. Untill about half an hour ago. I was out driving, and I feel something shaking and I hear this noise almost reminiscent of an exhaust leak? I decide to head straight home, since I was pretty close. Anyway, I hear a bolt come loose, and I figure it was just a loose bolt on my exhaust that had come loose and rattled off. A few seconds later, my battery light came on, and I knew immediatley what it was. I end up making it home, and as I'm pulling into my driveway the thing flew off.

Now I need a new crank pulley, and some new belts.

since its already stripped...u might want to try re-threading those bolts and the crank hole...if that does not work, u can put a heat resistant locktite to prevent it from coming lose or u can get some JB Weld and put some on it...just right around it...so it does not come lose when rev higher...hope this helps...i highly recommend re-threading first...

I thought about reathreading it... but then I'm scared to mess with my crank, know what I mean? It's majorly important and stuff.

How hard is it to rethread? I've rethreaded bolts on other stuff before, but never on anything relating to the car.

FYI: JD weld does not work well in cold climates...Only warm ones. Therefore it will not bold well to cold metal.

Well, fortunatley I live in Florida, coldest it ever gets here is about 40 degrees... right now it's 72F. If I put JB Weld on it, will I be able to take the crank pulley off when the time comes? I realize I'm kind of looking for the best of both worlds, but it needs to come off when I need it off (to change timing belt, oil pump, whatever), and not to come off by itself... sometimes I hate my car.

EDIT: Does JB weld stand up to high temps? I know I have some in the garage, but I've never used it. My brother's the one thats always using it.

Yeah, I made it home just in time for my pulley to fall off in my driveway, and get stuck under my front tire...

Last bump before I let it drop. Probably gonna put some JB Weld on it.
