I need some advice. I am about to buy a 95 integra. oil burn bad?
I am planning to buy a 95 integra. The person i am buying from took perfect care of the car. He always did everything that needed to be done at Acura Dealership. The car however have one major problem. I want to get your opinions on this problem.
The car have 125,000 miles on it. The car however is using oil. He said that the car started using oil from about the beginning of this year. He said that one day in february, he checked his oil, and realized that there was no oil in the engine. he said he had the oil changed at acura in december, and he theorized that they forgot to put oil in the engine. now the car started using oil. he says that it is using about 1/2Quart ever 1000 miles. Acura however is trying to convince him that this is OK. He says that acura is telling him that this is normal for every car, and that he should not worry about it.
I want to know what you think about this, and wheter you think this is normal or not. the engine still feels perfect. I really respect him as a good car seller, and i like his honesty most.
I also want to know if all integras came from japan or were integras made here in the US also?
Thanks for your advice.

Does the car blow smoke when running. If it does the piston rings are fried due to the fact that there was no oil in it. No not all integras were made in Japan. I belive from 94 on some were made in U.S. Someone correct me if I am wrong I am not sure about the year.
no, it does not smoke. someone was suggesting that it might be the valve guides or the valve seals, what do you think?
I was wondering if it was uncommon to find a japan made teg, similar to how it is hard to find a japan made accord or civic

Reving the **** out of the motor will burn a little oil. Mine does it too, but it still runs like new with 92k miles on the clock.
I know my Teg was made in Japan, and afaik, all Gen 3's were.

Even if it was the valve guides it should smoke. It just seem like a lot of oil is missing for it not to be smoking. You might have a slow leak. Sometimes when the oil drain plug washer is worn out it will leak from there.
you sure there was no oil in the car for one point? i can see very little oil, but no oil.... **** would break withen seconds

well, I am not sure if there was no oil at the time when it went low. the guy said the oil was not reading on the oil stick. I do not see any visible leaks, and i did not observe any smoke either

No oil reading on the dipstick means it's missing 1 quart. Our dipsticks measure only the top quart. Total is just under 4 I believe. Running without any oil would destroy an engine pretty quick.
