Anyone have this gtech yet?
I have heard only bad things about Gtech. It is not accurate at all. My friend with a stock Subaru WRX ran a 13.3 with that thing. Impossible....
Even if some things are off with it, I'm sure that with so many features some of them are useful. It measures HP/TQ, as well as telling you the best time to shift with the use of the red lights on the face, if anything it would look cool at night.
actually it is accurate when used and calibrated properly. GTECH Numbers arent meant to be compared with those on a real track. I dont know about the dyno feature of the new ones, I was thinking about getting one but they are backordered.

well i heard the prob with the first one was it didnt measure the tilt up or downhill, the gtech 2 has dual sensors that measure both the distance traveled and the degree at which you are traveling. Obviously that was a prob because you could do your 1/4 mile time downhill on the first one.
Does anyone have specific experience with the GTECH 2, aside from what you heard from your friends or my mom?

it's only as accurate as your calibrations... my friend in his g2 teg (i/h/e etc) pulled a 15.1 @ 92 durring a cool january evening... went to the track in hot *** june, ran a best of 15.9..... pretty accurate if you ask me.
I remember seeing a dyno that you tap into video-camera and into your 4 plug wires. Press record and it records it as a sound file.. you then put it into your "line in" port on your sound card and their software (39.99) and it gives you an extremely accurate horsepower reading... off by like 1.4 hp or something (compared with a dyno jet) but then again the dyno jet can't take into affect wind drag. the software (with the right settings) can take into consideration drag if you set it up properly... i dunno... someone have a link?

i have the 1st gtec it was telling me that my car was running 15.7 stock .. and my friends maxima was running a 14.9 went to track and he ran a best of 15.6 soo its a little off .. but then again location is key.. i've heard people taken the gtec to teh track and there times are consistant with the track times but the mph is off a lil
it is not acurate, but it is consistant.
so if you do a measure of your HP, it may be off by a lot, but if you do some upgrades, then measure again, your HP will have gone up, and that is generally an acurate number that it would have gone up by.
example, if you baseline with the Gtech at 180whp it will consistantly show 180whp, then you put on a header, and measure again with gtech, you may get a 185whp and the 5hp gain should be acurate, even if the numbers aren't

i have the previous model...i guess it kinda works....on my 94gsr with DC4-1 header, JUN chipped ECU, short shifter, 6puck clutch, matrix intake, it showed 147hp at the wheels....sounds about right...but then again sometime later it measured 122 at the wheels...try it..it's kinda fun.
Does anyone have the Gtech 2????
I think we've all heard the first one had its share of problems. i'm just wondering if anyone actually has experience with the NEW one.

GTECH's are very accurate. The MPH is off because it measures your trap speed( I believe its called).
As others have said its based on your calibration. Those who says its not accurate, either havn't used it, or didn't know what they were doing when they used it.

I have the gtech 2 and it has proved to be a very useful tool especially compared to how much it costs. So far all the readings have been very accurate even when compared to track/dyno. It also has a ton of other useful features and looks really cool at night. For the money you can't beat it.
Its only as accurate as you make it. I am sure you can set it up crooked, run downhill, etc, and its going to be off..
but I know someone who tried using it at a drag strip and it was only .13 off from his drag ET.

If you take the GTech to the track on a FLAT road surface, its pretty damn accurate. I use to have a GTech and it gave me accurate numbers.
You just have to find a nice Flat road for 1/3 mile or so.
