How low can you go?
Well, now that my Prelude is wrecked (check sig for thread), I'm going back to stock when I fix it, and you know what that means--yes, it's time it got a good slamming. Now I know a lot of people who do 2.5" drops, and it's nice, but my question is, how much can you lower our cars, like the max (I will be getting a camber kit and some bad *** shocks)? Any input is much appreciated because I want my Prelude on the ground, lol, well not that extreme, but you get the picture. Will most aftermarket shocks handle that kind of drop, say Koni or Tockico? Or will Teins have to take their toll? I don't care what it takes, I'll do it, lol.
I also know that lowering too much hurts handling as well. With that in mind, what type of lowering profile can I expect from a race spring drop of 2.5"? Thanks fellas

I would get a nice set Coil overs instead Like Teins.. it's expensive but its better then ******* up your car from excessive lowering.. Lowering it too much doesn't just hurts your suspension but it alsoe puts stress on your tranny. get the coilovers to drop it when you need to and raise it too..
i lowered 2.5" and i wouldn't dare going any lower. I scrape fairly often and any lower and it could get ugly. I have Koni yellows and they handle the drop perfectly.
Let's just say-been there and tried a 2.25" drop in front-looked great-handled horrible and scraped on my driveway when going into the garage. It is at the correct height and handles perfect, rides perfect and looks terrific.
You want to slam to the ground-be our guest-just remember that you will have some very serious issues driving the car except on the flattest, smoothest road or even trying to get on the show floor. As to Camber kits that low-forget it. You will bottom out the upper control arms on the inside of the towers with a drop over 2.5".
Get coilovers-set them for a nice clean drop, get camber kits for that drop and leave it alone. You have a 5th gen like mine and I assure you that you do not want to be spending money getting the front bumper cover repainted or replaced.
Happy New year

i agree with jc836.. i had mine as low as it would go on my gcs.. looked really nice, handled like ****, rode like ****. Since then its been raised to about 2 fingers and handles, drives and brakes much better. No more scraping is also a big plus- I think that excessive drop had something to do with my broken radiator too...

You go any lower than 2" on a prelude, and your shocks will have NO suspension travel, unless you have them race shortened like mine.. The stupidity of droping a car that low is beyond me, good luck, break some axles, dent the header, wear your tires out, and handle like ****, but it "
looks tight y0"

Thanks for all input guys---most of what you all have posted I already know, and I was simply asking what issues would rise if you were to slam a Prelude. I know that after 2" there's no suspension travel, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Originally I was only going to do an inch or inch and a half drop, something clean. I do appreciate your posts and I've already planned to get coilovers, and I won't be going over 2" with them--just don't get your panties in a twist
