Default what to do? 90 civic hatch, h22, b18. got it all. or $100 d16 dohc?

ok so im about to trade my 90 teg for 90 hatch. i already have an extra h22a1 from my prelude build, that i was trying to sell but no one wants. i also have a b18a from my best friend who passed away, integra that i was going to build in memory, which is not for sale. the orignal plan for that moter was to go in another integra, but the one i have is not worth it.

how much more stuff will i need to put that h22 in vs the b18. is the b18 bolt in, or do i need a mount kit as well. arent these civics cable trannies.

also to make things even harder i can get a full long block from an 89 integra for 100.

any opions will be appreacited. the immidate goal is the cheapest, then easiest way. the long term goal has not been set cause it will change anyway.

thanks,
Vinny

unless you have some extra cash or a lot of experience with welding and fabrication, count the h22 out. To put it in an ef you are looking at some not so easy modifications to the frame rails. Stcik with the b series unless you are prepared to spend some time and money on the h22!!MY $.02!

I would take the d16 and build the **** out of it. There is quite a cult following for the d16 no-tech. I would go at that. Would be a fun and kind of easy challange?

If you want to keep the costs down, I would work with the B18A that you have now. If it's still in decent shape, why not drop it in for now until you get some more $, say after you sell the H22A setup. After that, tear it down and build it up for boost or even an LSVTEC. The B18A is a great building block motor. I would definitely stay away from the H22A in that chassis. Any B series motor will require a B series mount kit for your car. They are made to bolt in with minimal modfication, unlike the hack, pound, cut, weld for the H22A.

The biggest problem with the Integra D16 longblock is that it will not bolt in to the fourth gen civic. You cannot get a mount kit to do this swap anyway. The H22a will require fabrication to install. Your best bet is the Integra B18 which will work with a mount kit. The 4th gen transaxles are cable clutch.

By the time you spend all the monmey and **** to build a worthless d series and you could by yourself a b series or h series bone stock and be just as fast if not faster and still be able to mod it, you can only get so far with a d series and in a way your right but why limit yourself!

dont get me wrong if i had the money id have a H22 cramed into my 4 gen. but i dont and neither do most people. it all depends on how fast you want to go . mid 12 is easy with a D and that fast enough for me. besides this whole honda thing is about being the underdog right? if you truly didnt want to limit yourself youd be wasting all your money on a RWD V8 that has traction.
