weird ass idle,,,please read and help!
Ok yesterday I went to the muffler shop and took off my exhaust. I put the stock one back onto my Integra and the aftermarket piping is till on the car. Now when im idling and the motor is nice and warm, the RPMs keep going from like 800 to 2000 and dropping back to 800 then up to 2000 again. And for some reason my car sometimes idles at like 1500-1700 RPMs. What could this be from? I checked all vacuum lines and everything else that i know of that would cause this. If you guys have experienced this problem and fixed it...please let me know!!
Do you have an SAFC or VAFC controller on you car? When it is set too lean, it will make your car's idle jump up and down.

You have a fast idle valve on the intake manifold that is more than likly worn out. I would check and make sure but I'm 99.9% sure thats it.

Fast Idle Thermovalves are on manuals, but I believe they were deleted from newer Integras due to their complete uselessness.
It is located on the underside of the throttle body. The IACV is on the back of the intake manifold. You check that by pulling the intake, and while the engine is running (and warmed up) plug the lowermost hole in the inner TB with your finger (there are 2, like 8oclock and 10oclock). If the idle is hunting, then stops and sputters when you plug the hole, the FITV is bad.
If there is no change, you should test the IACV. You do that by GRADUALLY covering the uppermost hole with your finger. If you cover it completely, the motor should die. At about 90% covered, the idle should slowly stop hunting. If it doesnt, and it continues to hunt while its covered completely, the IACV is most likely toast.

BACK FROM THE DEAD:
how do you clean the fast idle valve? take it off the TB, or just spray carb cleaner through one of those holes or what?

I think when the O2 sensor is faulty, the idle will bounce up and down from 800 - 2000 rpm.
check if the muffler shop damage the o2 sensor or the wiring.
