Where to find an RSX R motor?
I know you can find DC2R motors everywhere, but Im having a hard time finding a DC5R motor. My car club is probably going to be building an SI with the DC5R swap, but we are having a hard time locating a motor. Are there any particular shops that I should look into? Searching for the motor is a pain in the *** because it has so many different names(RSX R, DC5 R, RSX Type R, ITR, etc) so any help is appreciated. I could probably ask this question in the ITR forum but I dont think the ITR guys have much love for the K20 motor. TIA

Yeah it seems like people are getting pretty good results from the Type S motor with minor mods. We will have to decide what we wanna do. Thanks

$8,500...ouch
You know the K20A motor is only about 15 horsepower more than the K20A2 motor, right?
I think I'd just buy the cams, honestly, and put them in a K20A2 motor. (Yes, I know the DC5R cams are just more duration, but tests seem to prove it really does help when modding the K20 motors.)

you know what.. I say we all keep our Type S engine.. coz it is an engine with Great pontenial.. really.. i don't think it is that hard to make it like a Type R..
and think of it this way... we spend $36,000CAD on the car and spend another $8000.CAD minus the $3-4000CAD we get for our motor... in the end. we have a Type R.. yea.. but we also have another Civic on the road that can kick the **** out of us because we sold our stock motor to them,.. mine point of view

Come on man $9800 for that motor. I can find it from a place that I'm real familiar with for $6500 + shipping. Good luck selling those motors for that (although Im sure somebody with money will buy them).
Bah, Gruppe-s (gruppe-s.com) just sold one the other day for 5300 shipped. It had less than 2k on it.
IM 'girl' on this board and see if he has anymore.

With $+8000 for a Type R motor it's more worthwhile and money to get aftermarket parts. A simple setup like intake/header/exhaust will already make the Type S faster than the Type R and won't cost $8000.

K20A engines are expensive cuz they are new and rare. Spoon just released their balanced K20A engines which they used in the one make race in Japan.
