I was wondering what kind of oil (castrol, mobil, etc...) and what type (10-30, 10-40) you guys are useing, and what you suggest I use in my 157,000 miles engine?

i use mobil1 5w30 synthetic.

 

for your car i'd use 10-40 Castrol

 

5w-30 castrol syntec

 

i use 15w 50 mobil1...gives u more protection on extreme temperature

 

anyone using red line oil or purple royal?... it's a choice between those 2 and mobil 1 and castrol syntec for me

 

I personally use Redline 5w30. But do a search there is a huge thread in the TypeR forum all about oil. You will learn pretty much everything you need to know.

10w-30 castrol synthetic is the wy to go

 

I live in So cal and I use 5w-30... I usually use Mobil 1 Tri-Synthetic because it can be bought for a good price at Costco ($22/case 6 - 1 qt bottles) and we always go there to buy supplies and groceries so I get my Mobil 1 there since its cheaper than the $4-4.99/quart they want at the parts stores...

 

10w-30. If you car burns oil, then use 10w-40. I suggest those high mileage oil like Vavoline or Castrol, $2.50 a qt.

 

Valvoline 10w-30

 

mobil 10w-30. its a group IV synthetic unlike other over the counter synthetics which are group III (made from dino).
