all B16's are the same castings. only difference will come in the form of sensors for proper OBD setups. i have a friend with a 2000 type r bottom end in his hatch, swapped all the sensors over from his B16, and it works fine.

another difference in the 1st gen and 2nd gen is the cams.
the 2nd gen are a bit more aggressive. generally speaking the newer the cams the better.
