Balljoint Welded to ITR Knuckle?? Why??

I just bought a 5-lug swap and I looked at the knuckle and the balljoint and saw that the balljoint in welded to the knuckle?? Why is this??

It may appear to be stuck though is just really on there!

I doubt it is welded!

Balljoints are a Pain In The ***!!

I don't mean that it is so stuck that it seems to be welded, but there are weld splatters on top of the ball joint.. might there be a reason why someone might do this??

Unless it was damaged and had to of been welded back together i see no reason why i should be?
