OMG,Only one quart came out after oil change!
I have been useing my car for work which entails driving 250 miles a day.
I have a 2000 B16A2 motor and yesterday I did an oil change and only enough oil to fill one empty quart bottle came out
.
I did an oil change about 1 and a half months ago,Maybe 7000 miles or so ago.
My Vtec has not been working properly for a while now.
I have NEVER used synthetic oil until yesterday when I used Mobil 1.
I checked my oil 3 weeks ago and no oil registered on the dipstick so I added a qt
I checked it a week ago and no oil still registered on the dipstick so I added another qt.
Where in the world did 5 of those 6 quarts go.How is my car not blowing up with all these miles and no oil?
My theory is that the conventional oil is just getting burned up in my high revving motor and maybe thats why most people use synthetic.
I hope.
The motor has 40,000 miles total.
Im perplexed here, any and all feedback will be appreciated.
Thanks
Dan

do a compression test, just to be sure. If you need help on how to do it, let me know. 40k huh, usually our motors are healthy around those miles
No smoke,Thats why Im confused,Where in the world is all that oil going?
Oh ,In that case I have burned 5 quarts in 7000 miles so that is acceptable.
The car still runs smooth as new with no noise.

is it better to use synthetic in our b-series?
1 quart per 1000 miles is a general rule for cars. If you had a car thats under warranty and you tried to get the engine replaced under warranty because it burns too much oil, but if it burns less than one quart per 1000 miles the dealer will most likely tell you tough luck. Or if you had a car with a lot of miles on it and you were thinking of rebuilding it becuase it burned oil, most people will tell you that as long as it burns less than 1 quart per 1000 miles its ok.
Now a Honda with only 40k burning that much oil is weird. Obviously check for leaks. Are you smoking real bad at start up and not noticing it? Smoking at start up indicates bad valve seals. Also, some cars are known to burn a lot more oil at high RPMs. Maybe you just have one of those cars?
Obviously, running with just 1 quart of oil is not recommended. But it doesnt necessarily gaurantee engine damage. If youre ambitious pull the oil pan and clean it and check for metal particles.

Techline has told me 1000 for a qaurt too, but thats bullshit. Thats just honda backing out of a warranty repair
. 3k to a qaurt is pushing it for any stock honda motor.
For this case i'll bet the damage is done. Every one should check there oil level every fill up. Do a compression check. 7k without even checking your oil and now you pay
