sorry guys, im a newbie in audio, looking for a deck that plays mp3s, but dont want to loose the clean black interior look, I dont like big silver faceplates, so plz give me some suggestions...

A lot of alpines line plays mp3. You can consider the 7995 and 7998 if you already have amps.

 

The 7995 is silver. Awesome deck though..i've had mine for close to a year now

You could look for a Kenwood KDC-MP8017. It's last year's model though so you'd have to look for it on ebay (new old stock).

What is the deal with all the silver colored stereos these days anyway? It's like all the manufacturers decided overnight to switch from black to silver.

 

i have this deck, its an awesome deck and can be had under $200 nowadays.

 

Yeah, I got mine for under $200 on ebay (new and unopened). I'm pretty happy with it so far, except for two things: 1) there's a bad delay between songs (annoying when multiple tracks aren't supposed to have a delay between them on the CD), and 2) the face isn't motorized like other Kenwood decks.

Does anyone here have access to Kenwood service manuals? I'd like to find the part numbers needed to convert this deck to the D-MASK+ motorized face but I need service manuals to look up the part numbers.

 

i dont have a bad delay between mine, although all my mp3s are encoded at 192kbps, also i got it because i dont like motorized stuff, more **** that can break, yknow

 

I think in says in the manual for all mp3 decks. If it's rated higher than 128kbps, then there will be slight lag and more so if it's a higher bit rate. I have a Sony deck I forget the model number but I know they only have like one deck that plays MP3.
