Default Swapping a D16y5 into an 88 crx

I want to give my freind my 97 D16y5 sohc vtec for his 88 crx because his motor is shot. Is this a pretty straight forward swap? Can i use his cable tranny or do i have to use my hydro and convert? what about obd issues? i have all the stock stuff from my car because i swaped a b16a. if there are any known issues about this swap please let me know.

Thanks

it will bolt right in. He should use the y5 ecu which means he'll have to use the obd2 engine harness and in dash harness unless he rewires his existing harness, which is probably the best thing unless you've got an obd2 gauge cluster hanging around. Since its pretty much an obd conversion he'll also need to ditch the resistor box for his injectors, and he'll either have to rewire his existing dizzy or use your obd2 dizzy. He can use his existing tranny also, so no axle swapping or anything like that is required. good luck

You would'nt want to run OBD-II stuff, really. too much hassle for just a Y5... BTW, isn't the Y5 a non vtec DX motor?

I would use CRX/Civic Si ECU, disributor, injectors, etc etc...
