B16 Block and B20 head?
I see b16 blocks around everywhere. I also see B20 and LS heads around as well. Would the head fit up to the block? The only reason why I'd like to know is because it would make a good temp. motor if you blew your current one up. What would I have to do to make em fit up? Would I have valve clarence problems and piston clarence problems?

a b16 block and a b20 head? i dont understand, i have seen people doing b20 blcok with b16 head, but not the way you describe.
they will bolt up, but you will have to tap a oil return/supply holes in the block and head or something.
im posting because im curious

just currious cause I was thinkin of an alternative if one blew his/her engine. This is like an oppistie of a CRVTEC.

i had the idea to put an ls head on an extra B16 bottom end i had, bad idea. i thought about it once, laughed, and that was the end of that. the ls head would directly line up with the B16 block, but the oiling passages would line up completely wrong. motors are built to be upgraded, not downgraded. i know the B16 block would be pissed that it "has this shitbox cylinder head on top that won't rev past 7 arrrrghhh!" haha.

I wouldn't even consider this swap unless my head was significantly damaged or removed for P&P new valves etc, in which case I think this is a viable option.

We were thinking of doing that with the leftover parts of an LS-VTEC and CR-VTEC head swap. Use the old non-VTEC head on the unused B16A block since to do these you generally can't just buy the B18A/B/B20B/Z block and B16A head on their own. The leftovers would be useful. I have no idea what output one would expect but it should be better than any SOHC.
