Default Ideas for retaining the cd holder with an aftermarket head

I installed the 7998 in the bottom spot. Factory is headunit on top and cd holder on bottom. Since I could not figure out a way to attach the factory bracket to the alpine I put in the holder and installed it on the bottom, so the HU would have more support. I want to keep my cd holder, since I use it to hold my wallet.

Is there an easy way to fabricate this?

Did you use the alpine frame, or did you find a way to secure it factory style? What did you connect the prongs for the cd holder into?

I played with it yesterday, and it finally went in. After flipping the cd holder upside down the alpine frame prevents it from coming back out after the head unit is inserted.

are u installing your headunit in the factory location??? use a metra installation kit. best buy ~16 bucks. its much easier and has the pocket below the radio location. this kit is for din sized radios. forgive me if this is not what u are talking about. peace

All you have to do is get the mounting frame of your headunit and place a spacer between it and the cd holder (which should be in its normal lower position) and ducktape the whole assembly.

I have a pioneer, and I used the same exact tabs (with the screws) that hold on the cd holder to the stock radio to hold it upto the HU's cage. Then just stock a piece of rubber in there to keep it solid and from moving.

Duct tape ownz!

I have been using it, and I don't think it is coming back out without removing the head. The little tabs with the rubber things are wedged in there once the HU is inserted in the frame.
