Wings West RS kit question
I am getting a 6 piece WW kit next month and i was was wondering if I could put the kit on myself and then take the car in and have the whole car srpayed? Or do you have to have the kit sprayed first before you can put it on the car? I am getting the whole car painted and I figured it wooould be easier to have the kit on the car when they painted it? Someone who has had this done please let me know.
Thanks

It should be painted prior to intallation to a color coat, then installed and sprayed to match the car evenly and cleared. That's the proper way to do it so you get lean lines on the kit, and no paint peeling around where the kit tapes on to the body. The second best option would be to paint it first, then install it. Painting it on the car is not a very good idea, as it will leave alot not done properly on the car, and some bad spots on the kit. Also be aware of what factory peices are retained and that the factory rocker peice will need to be painted also.
Yeah if you have the time I would get it tested fitted first make sure everything lines up right, this is good to do because on some kits the holes are not pre-drilled so you will want to drill them first before you get it painted so you dont crack the paint when you drill. Take in the kit with your car have them spray the car and then spray the kit, like the other guy said before if you take the car in with the kit on they will just spray it and when or if you take the kit off you will have pieces unpainted were your sideskirts and doorcaps go.
dude i have the rs kit for both my cars and they fit perfect. i installed it myself and got it the first time but i highly recommend getting it painted first before putting it on. heres my coupe and my ladys hatchback

I am just trying to go with the most cost effective way. Once the kit goes on I will not take it off. I am also getting z3 fenders and a new sunroof panel? So I want it to be done right? Anyone know any good shops in the Jacksonville Florida area? thanks

You have to test fit the kit when you get it, but make sure you have it installed professionally later otherwise it'll look broke ***. My friend had my buddy and I install a riced out kit on his car and he still hasnt taken it in to get it all hooked up...hopefully he will this spring.
