Default easuring camber

anyone have a good way to measure the amount of camber a wheel may have? ...or if there are places that can do this for you (incase expensive equipment is required).

I know you can probably do a eye thing, but i dont think that would be very accurate.

we just installed springs on a wrx and cant figure out which camber kit to get him....

Wai has a very neat guage that measures camber. He showed it off at Gingerman in october. It's basically an electronic gauge attached to a triangular shaped piece, the three ends get placed up to the wheel and it measures the angle, after you calibrate it with the ground/surface near the tire/wheel.

Hopefully he sees this and has more exact info. Neat, accurate device.

If you don't want to spend a lot of money and you have a one of those bubble level things. Go to a place that you know the ground is level, find a board, and put both upagainst the rim. then you can adjust with camber.

Thats what I had/used on the race car!

Works great, Though level ground is a must!!

An angle guage (cheap) and bubble level could also do trick!

angle gauge wouldnt do it...so i think....b/c it would not be measuing the proper angle (perpendicular to surface).

if i adjust the toe on the vehicle, then adjust the camber, will the toe come out of spec again?

TIA

This is what I have. But the one shown in the pic is for go-kart. The one for cars is bigger. The best part is that electronic module. It can be calibrated to accommodate unlevel floor. A bubble gauge would cost a lot less.

I spent like $250 for this thing but I figured that a year before I brought the car to a shop to have the alignment done twice, $110 a pop. So I guess this piece is worthy, especially I'm raising and lowering the car for different setups couple times a year.

these gauges just read camber. your best bet for toe would be a set of toe plates and a couple of tape measures.

Yes, if you adjust toe then camber, your toe wil be out of spec again.

Always adjust camber/caster first, then toe. hth.
