first its more about engine management then how well the engine is built.. it has a lot to do with it but if you run standalone fuel management it is much better.. i am running the stackable headgasket from mr. gasket and i am about 8.5:1 compression.. i am only running 7lbs at the moment i will upgrade later but i just blew one motor so i went safe and lowed the compression and dynoed tuned mine so that way i am ok for daily driver..

With what you were talking about you could probably run a good 12 psi daily

What do you have for the turbo set up now...I'm guessing this is a built-yourself set up? I've been looking for a good turbo kit for a sohc non-vtec. Having experience what would you recommend

Stock D16 rods are good up to about 225-230WHP...depending on NUMEROUS factors...timming, colder plugs..tuning...ect..

you your block is built w/ standalone....i'd run 1 bar daily and even more when i need it

If it's gonna be built you can easily run 20psi at the strip.
if you do plan on running that high of a boost level I suggest you get bigger injectors, but that's just my opinion.

ex. hondata & 720's should take care of all your management IMO.

!MUY IMPORTANTE!
Get a good tune and all should be well.
