Where is the ILDE SWITCH?
I'm trying to find the IDLE SWITCH on my 1985 Honda Accord.. but i'm having trouble finding it. Does anybody know where it's located? Anyone know where the carb is located?
Maybe somebody can answer another question for me .. I think this has to do with the carb .. I start my car and it idles very very low. When i drive , it keeps decellerating, like choking .. When I stop it will stall out most the time .... ??

i have an 85 accord that needs a new motor now, but i still have one. it just died about 2 months ago.
anyways, have you tried carb cleaner, or heet in your gas tank. it could be bad gas or some condensation in your gas. Or it could just be low idle that needs adjusted. the car is over at a friends house otherwise i would go open it up and look for hte idle screw for ya. I'd say take it somewhere and pay 30$ to have it tuned up. sounds like it needs it.
oh ya, try the air filter also, or any vacuum hoses, could be a vaccuum leak.

i also smell gas when driving it .. before it didn't idle this low .. but after driving it about 60 miles it started to idle unsually low to the point where the engine barely keeps going (when idle)... do you know if this could also effect the engine tempurature? Because I thought I had a problem with the radiator because the thermostat would go about 3/4 up when driving it , and almost hit red if I were to go ont he freeway for a while .. but now it's not as bad, i can drive it 3 times as long with the thermostat at half way.... ??

It sounds like you have some major issues with your car. You may want to consider getting another one. The car should come up to operating temp and stay there-not go up and down. Try replacing the thermostat and radiator cap first and see if that helps. Sometimes it's something simple like that. I would clean the carb out with carb cleaner. It's under the air filter box. Definitely get a tuneup soon. With proper maintenace these Accords last forever. If you smell gas, you may have a leak somewhere. Change the plugs, distributor cap and rotor ASAP and you will see at least some improvement.

I'd use the carb-cleaner first & do the thermostat too. All that stuff for your car would be like $25 bucks. Rebuilding a carb on a crap car (one about to give up the ghost) is too much time and effort (and gas on you) if you ask me.
Be careful...don't look down the throat of that thing directly over it while your spraying cause it might back-fire on you sending lit-gas in your face.

I already replaced the plugs, and distributor cap. Yesterday I got some carb / fuel injection cleaner and it seemed to only help a little bit. But i'm still having the problems. I put 5$ of gas in and after driving it for only a little bit, the GAS light starting coming on again. I checked for leeks but couldn't find any. I'm assuming it's something very wrong with the carb / fuel injection. The car was drivin allot when it was low on gas, so perhaps there's allot of dirt in there clogging everything up?? How easy is it would you say to take out the carb and try cleaning it yourself?

The carb cleaner they were talking about comes in a can and you spray it on the carb. Just take off the air box to get to the carbeurator and spray it pretty good with the cleaner. And you might be able to get a used carbeurator from a junkyard. If it's using lots of gas, you probably do have a problem with your carbeurator. Call around and see how much places would charge to rebuild the carb for you. Good luck!
