Default 92 Accord Stalling (ECU code 15)

My 92 Accord has been stalling a lot lately. The ECU code is 15 (ignition output signal). I have an idea of where to start in terms of diagnosing the problem but I would really appreciate anyone's opinions. Here are the symptoms I have noticed so far:

1. The engine stalls while driving and sometimes while idling
2. The engine's rpm usually bounces up and down right before it stalls
3. When coasting at just over 3K rpm, the tachometer needle bounces erratically
between 3K - 5/6K without any actual noticeable changes in the engine's rpm
4. Sounds like the engine misfires, usually when driving above 60 mph

About 3 months ago the car died while I was driving. The engine turned over but wouldn't start. Mechanic replaced the igniter and it worked fine until lately when I noticed that the tachometer needle would bounce about erratically (usually when above 3k rpm) without any obvious changes in the engine's actual rpm's. About a month later, the engine began stalling. Any advice would be greatly appreciated before I go back to the mechanic. Thanx

Given the age of your car, this problem can be caused by a failing "main" or "master" relay. I think it's in the steering column area and controls the fuel pump, among other important things.

PS, other stalling issues have been bad a bad engine ground cable/connection. It's the large gauge cable that runs from the tranny to the chassis (and/or negative battery terminal).
Erratic idle/RPM is probably ignition/distributor. Check timing. There was a distributor recall for failing distributor bearings on '92s.

i have a 92 coupe, and i had to replace my distributor. problem was, when i would idle, like u have described, the tach needle would move around erratically only up to about 1000 rpm, and then it would die. wouldn't do it if i was reving tho. so when i was at stop lights, i'd put it in neutral and give a little gas so it wouldn't die, until i got my car fixed. replaced the distributor fer about $250 i think with labor and stuff, and car has been fine since.
