Default Sorry mini-me Q's.

I know this has been a post before, but I have a few questions that have bot been answered yet.
I have a left over D15b2 with a 4-speed Std. tranny. I wish to use the block after building it up. I need to know what I need to do to put the SOHC VTEC head on it. I also need know what I should do about the tranny. I like the wide ratio as I'l be going turbo. I'm not looking for a drag engine here. Just something with a lot of pull as a spare engine. I'd also like to know how haed it is to swap this combo into an '87 Si. I've also never done a D-series and need some advice of where to go for the machining and sleeving. Any help much appreciated.

Well, you need to bolt the sohc vtec head on. I don't know if the D15B2 has an oil jet in the block that needs to be removed, but I do know tha tthe sohc vtecs have one on the head, so if your d15b2 does... remove it. I would also recommend the Si tranny. And it will not bolt into a 3rd gen si. For that car you'd be better off going D16A1.

Ok thanks. I know I'd be better going D16, but I was hoping I use what I already have. Any reasonings as far as durabilty is concerned for the Si tranny over the Std.. I also can get D15's for real cheap compared to the D16 and B16's that's why I wanted to use them. One guy wa selling a short block of a D15b7 (Ibelieve) for 20 buxs. That's a deal for me.

The B2 bottom does have a oil control jet. So you will need to remove it before you bolt on the vtec head. If you want longer ratios, what about DX 5 speed trannies? Should be pretty easy to find.

that is a crazy statement, why would the si trans not be as "durable" as a std.? it's not the trans it comes down to it is the ******* driver relentlessly beating the f&%k out of it cause it is geared nicer than a std.

Umm chill out eat a pill or two, please for all of us.I never said one was more durable. I was asking is one was more durable than the other in a DECLARATIVE statement. I wouldn't say it's geared nicer than a std. it just has a shorter closer ratio with one more gear. If I can build a motor that has a long broad torque band the std. tranny would be a little more effective. I already own the std. so why should I buy an Si if I don't have to.
I can see you not having a whole of experience with cars yet if you think it's the driver that beats on the tranny. Ever rallied? If not, don't accuse someone of crap when you know nothing about it. I was just after the info to which tranny is more durable.
