bilstein w/ neuspeed race; sits higher
I just got done putting on my bilstein struts paired with neuspeed race springs (yellow ones). Well I lowered down the rear and was pretty disapointed. The car sits higher then it did with my stock struts paired w/ neuspeed race. The front looks great, no gap, but the rear has a pretty big gap. Enough so that you could see the spring when looking at the car from the side. What gives, how did these $400 struts raise my car in the back?
I'm using the full 1 1/2 inch bumpstops that came with the bilsteins and the rear neuspeed springs are put on so that the close coils are near the top (this making the lettering on them upside down). Is this right?
As for the ride, its way better then it was. Not as ruff but still seems a little bouncy.
Can anyone help? or have a pic of a EF on race and bilsteins?
thanks
Joe

I guess i'll try flipping them around then. Ya think I should cut the rear bumpstops in half while I'm at it? I hope it drops it down some, I can't stand a wheel gap like this.

Okay, well the springs being upside down will not have any affect on ride height. But having them right side up is always comforting.
Now, when you get in there to flip the springs, check the adjustable perches on the Bilsteins. There's a clip ring that you can put in either the upper groove or the lower groove - make sure that it's in the lower groove on all of the struts.
HTH!!

I didn't know they were adjustable... anybody got a pic to explain this.
to me they just looked like regular struts, a little lip near the bottom to slide the perch down to and a little incline up top to prevent the bumpstop from going up anymore.
I dunno, i'll check um out when I get the time, we just got about a foot of snow last night..

I don't have a pic but it should be obvious if you take the shock off and look at it closely. You should see another groove for the little "lip" that holds the perch for the bottom of the spring. It will be either above or below the location where the little lip is currently. You can move the "lip" since it's actually a clip.

Not all bilsteins come with the adjusable perch grooves...so you will have to take em to a machine shop and have them cut more grooves on a lathe. The red arrow in the pic shows where the original groove was

Well I guess the fact that FRESH gas charged shocks MIGHT just cause the car to sit at a NORMAL ride height instead of sagging with the worn out stock shocks.
yea, I guess that could be the case also, just seems weird because these are a pretty heavy drop and I still have an ugly noticable wheel gap
. I'd hate to see it with some sportlines or something.
thanks
